Bahcesehir Eskisehir High School

Bahçesehir Eskisehir High School is a private, co-educational school that is

situated on the outskirts of the city of Eskisehir in north-central Turkey.

Both Eskisehir Anatolian High School and Eskisehir Science and Technology

High School were opened in August 2017. Students enrolled in the

Eskisehir Science and Technology High School are able to obtain a high-level

STEM education that will equip them with the skills and competencies and instill

in them the values necessary to embark on further education and progress to the

most cutting-edge careers in the fields of science and technology. Our campus is located in a suburban area away from the traffic and noise or air pollution. We spare a big part of our garden for the animals we adopted from shelters, such as cats, dogs, rabbits, ducks, and chickens. We provide a functional field for our students to spend their time with those animals, get socialized and attend sports or outdoor activities. Both EskiÅŸehir Science and Technology High School and EskiÅŸehir BahçeÅŸehir Anatolian High School is known for its outstanding student achievement, a broad program of extracurricular activities, and combine a blend of Turkish and international cultural values. They seek academic excellence and commitment with the aim of educating a diverse student population from all across Turkey. Priority is given to the academic growth of the students rather than simple emphasis placed on scientific knowledge.

Cahnges to Education as A Result of COVID-19

The outbreak and spread of the Covid-19 pandemic have exerted a profound effect on the way education has been planned and delivered at BahçeÅŸehir College. In accordance with guidelines from the Turkish Ministry of Education, for the duration of the entire second semester from March to June 2020, students were taught online with adapted course materials. The Ministry of Education decided to award students the same grades at the end of the year (end of the second semester) as they had received for their midyear reports (end of the first semester). Students’ plans to study abroad were also adversely affected by the fact that test centers for SAT and ACT examinations were for the large part closed, forcing them to postpone taking these tests. Since September, the Ministry of Education has implemented a ‘staggered’ approach to the recommencement of school classes. Due to social distancing regulations, the classes have been scheduled to return in stages starting with 12th grade, who have also been offered the option to continue their education via inperson or distance learning. In distance learning, teachers connect their computers to a smartboard in each classroom. Thus, students can see both the classroom board and the teacher via an online distance education platform. Gradually, the Ministry of Education intends to begin faceto-face education with lower grade classes. Furthermore, despite the absence of an official announcement, it is planned by the Ministry that this year’s exams would be held in person, where students will take turns coming to school to attend exams. With the schools closing in the second semester of last year, club activities were cancelled. No club activities will be held this year either, because of the pandemic.
